Lise
Anne Couture, co-founder of Asymptote, an award-winning New York-based
design firm, will give a talk at the University
of Virginia School of Architecture on
Friday, Nov. 7.
Asymptote
is a leader in research and experimentation in digital technologies
applied to both building design and the
creation of virtual space.
Recent
projects by the firm include 3DTF, a virtual reality trading
room for the New York Stock Exchange;
HydraPier, a
building for technology
and art in
Holland; a virtual museum for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; an
event center in Munich for BMW and a line of furniture for
Knoll International.
Couture
received a master’s of
architecture from Yale University. She currently teaches
at Parsons School of Design and the Graduate School of
Architecture at
Columbia University, both in New York City.
