Announces Winners Of The
Writer’s Eye 16th Annual Poetry And Prose Competition
January 14, 2002--
The University of Virginia Art Museum announces the winners
of the 16th annual Writer’s Eye competition, a program organized
by museum docents. Participants from third-graders to adults submitted
original prose and poetry compositions inspired by selected works
on view in the museum.
Winners
will read their compositions at an awards ceremony on Sunday, Feb.
23, at 3 p.m. in Campbell Hall, Room l53. A reception will follow
in the museum.
Also
during this event, judges Susan Hitchcock and Stephen Cushman will
discuss their selection of first place entries in the high school
and university/adult categories
This
year’s program was made possible with the support of Howell
Press, which donated the publishing of the Writer’s Eye “Anthology,”
Barnes & Noble and Lexis Nexus.
Winners
will also read their entries during the Festival of the Book at
Barnes and Noble, Barracks Road Shopping Center, on March 19 at
6 p.m.
