August 26, 2004 --

WHO: Fifth-year Aunspaugh Fellows in the McIntire Department of Art

WHAT: Exhibit of recent work

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 10 – Thursday, Sept. 16

Art work by Alice Bailey, Ellen Gallup, Adam Moyer, Katherine Shirey, Alexander Stockwell and Colin Whitlow, all returning fifth-year Aunspaugh Fellows in the University of Virginia McIntire Department of Art’s studio art program, will show recent work in Dell I, behind Ruffner Hall, the Curry School of Education. The exhibit begins Friday, Sept. 10 and continues through Thursday, Sept. 16. The Dell I exhibit space is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Aunspaugh Fellowship program grants outstanding studio art students an opportunity to remain at U.Va. a year after graduation as fifth-year interns.

The exhibit kicks off the Studio Art Department’s fall series and celebrates the move to new, temporary facilities. Studio art will occupy two buildings, Dell I and Dell II, until the new studio art building, officially named Ruffin Hall, is completed. Groundbreaking for the new building, to be part of the Carr’s Hill Arts Precinct, is set for fall 2005.

Hourly parking is available in the Emmet Street Parking Garage. Passengers may be dropped-off on Bonnycastle Drive, off McCormick Road.

For details about the exhibit, call the McIntire Department of Art, (434) 924-6123.
