April 9, 2004 --
WHAT: Tenth Annual National Physics Day Show at the University
of Virginia
WHEN:
Wednesday, April 21, 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
WHERE:
U.Va. Physics Building, Room 203 (Jesse W. Beams Laboratory of

This
free family-oriented physics demonstration show is for the general
public and draws large crowds each year.
Physics
professors
Steve Thornton and Robert Watkins and lecture demonstrator
Mike Timmins will delight the crowd by balancing blocks
and moving
around fireballs, throwing curve balls, exploding balloons,
covering the
audience with toilet paper, and lots more. These demonstrations
will intrigue and excite both young and old, novice to expert.
Because
of large crowds in recent years, there will be two identical
shows this year - at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Bring
your family and
friends, and please come on time. Parking is available
in the parking garage on Emmet Street, or after 5 p.m. in Scott
Stadium
football
stadium lots.
