U.Va. Participates In United Way’s Richard E. Laurence Day Of Caring
September 2, 2005 --
On Sept. 21, over 740 University of Virginia employees will participate in this year’sUnited Way Richard E. Laurence Day of Caring. The Day of Caring annual event presents an opportunity for organizations and businesses in the community to pitch in and lend a helping hand to support community projects. Day of Caring projects range from spending time with seniors and being reading buddies to elementary children to making major repairs to senior homes and performing painting, landscaping and neighborhood clean-up projects.
Each year organizations put their best foot forward to make a positive impact in the community while building team spirit among fellow employees. The number of U.Va. volunteers has continued to increase from 645 actual volunteers in 2004 to 741 registered volunteers for 2005.
