U.Va. Art Museum Holds Fourth Friday Reception On Feb. 25
February 11, 2005 --
The University of Virginia Art Museum will host a Fourth Friday reception on Feb. 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Current museum exhibits include: “Corapeake,” “After Collage” and “Anastasi / Bradshaw / Cage / Cunningham.”
“Corapeake,” which closes Feb. 27, includes 43 photographs, a 56-minute film, and pages of photographer and filmmaker Kendall Messick’s journals from his time in Corapeake, N.C.
“After Collage,” is an exploration of the evolving concept of collage as explored in the work of contemporary artists from 1976 to 2003, all of which were drawn from the University’s own collection.
“Anastasi / Bradshaw / Cage / Cunningham,” centers on the cross-pollination of ideas among artists William Anastasi, Dove Bradshaw, John Cage and Merce Cunningham, all of whom broke boundaries and embarked on artistic adventures in dance, music and the visual arts during their years of friendship and professional collaboration in the early years of the second half of the 20th century.
Fourth Friday receptions are free for all members and special guests. A donation of $3 is requested from all nonmembers.
Students may sign up for their free museum membership by visiting the museum Web site: www.virginia.edu/artmuseum. Choose “UVA Students” from the right-hand menu and complete the form.
