No one remembers when U.Va.’s studio art faculty started celebrating the new academic year with a show of their works. It’s been a tradition ‘Since I Don’t Know When,’ said Megan Marlatt, chairwoman of studio art in the McIntire Department of Art. The phrase stuck as plans for the show progressed over the summer. “Since I Don’t Know When” opens Oct. 5 in the Off Grounds Gallery.
The exhibit includes paintings, sculpture, prints, film, video and photography by
William Bennett, Richard Crozier, Dean Dass, Kevin Everson, Philip Geiger, Megan Marlatt, Akemi Ohira, Eric Schmidt, Elizabeth Schoyer and visiting artists Doug Dertinger, Haley Hasler and Phil Hastings.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the gallery.
In conjunction with the show, Hasler will give an artist talk on Friday, Sept. 29, 6 p.m., in Campbell Hall, Room 160. Hastings will give a presentation of his films and videos on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6 p.m., in Campbell Hall, Room 160.
