HOLOCAUST SCHOLAR LAWRENCE LANGER TO SPEAK AT APRIL 26 EVENTS CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., April 19 -- "Admitting The Holocaust" will be the theme of a series of public events organized by the Hillel Jewish Center at the University of Virginia on Wednesday, April 26. The noted Holocaust scholar Lawrence Langer, professor emeritus at Simmons College, will deliver two major talks, and there will be a Holocaust memorial service. University and local community members are invited to all events. Langer, who has been at the forefront of Holocaust literature scholarship, will speak on "The Holocaust and the Literary Imagination" at 3:30 p.m. in Room 106 Peabody Hall. Langer is the author of an award-winning book of that title and has edited and written numerous other important works about the Holocaust. The Holocaust memorial service will be held from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in Newcomb Hall Theater. At 8 p.m. in Newcomb Hall Theater Langer will present a multimedia talk on "The Legacy of Holocaust Testimony." The presentation will include videotapes of interviews with Holocaust survivors.
