UNIVERSITY TO HOST PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS APRIL 20-22 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., April 19 -- About 1,400 high school students from across the nation will visit the University of Virginia this coming weekend (April 20-22) as they make their final decisions about which colleges to attend. With a variety of panels, sessions, tours, social events and concerts, the annual ÒDay on the LawnÓ will give prospective students a taste of academic life at U.Va. Faculty and students from schools and academic departments will describe their programs and answer questions during information sessions throughout the weekend. As part of the activities, a ÒSpring FlingÓ on April 21 will offer numerous events for minority students. For example, African-American and Hispanic students, who will be paired with U.Va. hosts, will listen to academic sessions, participate in a student life discussions and attend socials. A number of other events, including academic sessions, lunch with faculty, a skit and a dance, will be held for prospective Asian students on April 22. Student organizers have also planned a series of special events for prospective Echols and Rodman Scholars. Among those are panel discussions by Echols and Rodman faculty, tours, socials and entertainment.
