RELEASE ON RECEIPT CONTACT: Katherine Jackson CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., April 4 -- The American Diabetes Association's 1996 Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diabetes in Youth will be presented to Dr. William L. Clarke. Clarke, a professor at the Univeristy of Virginia Children's Medical Center, will be recognized June 7, in San Francisco, for working with young people with diabetes. One of fifty-one U.Va. doctors recently named to "The Best Doctors in America" guide, Clarke's specialty is diabetes in children. The diabetes award is made possible by Boehringer Mannheim Corporation, and consists of $1,000 donated in Clarke's name to U.Va., a plaque and travel expenses to San Francisco to attend the presentation. Clarke, who has been at U.Va. since 1978, received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training at St. Louis Children's Hospital. ### April 4, 1996
