DEDICATION OF DARDEN SCHOOL'S NEW COMPLEX TO BE HELD APRIL 13 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., April 6 -- Darden will be rolling out the red carpet next weekend for donors, trustees, friends, faculty and alumni gathering for a whirlwind of activities surrounding the dedication of the business school's new Grounds. The dedication on Saturday, April 13, of the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration's new complex was set to coincide with U.Va.'s Founders' Day celebration and a reunion weekend for more than 1,000 Darden alumni. "This weekend allows us to invite alumni who have contributed to the construction of the new Grounds, but who haven't had a chance to see them," said Leo I. Higdon Jr., dean of Darden. "As you know, the $37 million complex was built entirely with private funds." At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, a processional will march up the boulevard leading from Massie Road to the stately new complex of business school buildings, designed in the Jeffersonian tradition by the well-known New York architect, Robert A.M. Stern. A dedication of the new Darden Grounds will follow at the entrance of Saunders Hall, the focal point of the new complex. Other activities planned for the weekend (April 11-14) include a meeting of the board of trustees, a demonstration of Darden's World Wide Web site, continuing education seminars for alumni and a special business forum for Darden alumnae. The Darden alumnae forum brings together a panel of women with outstanding businesses careers who have garnered national honors and attention. Guest speakers include Grace Frisone, a financial advisor with J.P. Morgan; Judith S. Fox, president and chief executive officer of Judith Fox Staffing Cos.; Judy George, chairman and chief executive officer of Domain Home Fashions; and Michaela Walsh, president of Women's World Banking. In two Saturday sessions, the panelists will discuss strategies for start-up businesses and how women can build their financial assets. ### April 5, 1996 Media representatives interested in covering these events who need further information should contact either Elaine Ruggieri at the Darden School at (804) 924-3220 or Charlotte Crystal at University News Services at (804) 924-6858.
