AIMR has signed a lease with the University of Virginia Foundation for its new headquarters at the Fontaine Research Park. AIMR will use about 50,000 square feet of space in the new building, with the remaining 20,000 square feet reserved for the University. The move will nearly double AIMR's current office space. "Our move to the Fontaine Research Park marks the beginning of an exciting new era in AIMR's history of supporting the investment industry," said Thomas A. Bowman, CFA¨, president and chief executive officer of AIMR. "We are pleased to be able to build on our long standing relationship with U.Va. by leasing space in the latest addition to the park, and it is my hope that U.Va. and AIMR may find other synergies which will benefit both organizations in fulfilling their respective goals." Construction of the $8 million, 3 1/2-story, 70,000 square-foot building, designed by The Glave Firm of Richmond, is expected to be completed by September 1999. The general contractor will be Kjellstrom and Lee, also of Richmond. "AIMR is an important contributor to the Charlottesville economy, and the University is proud to have played a role in supporting the organization as it has grown over the years as a tenant at our Boar's Head property," said Leonard W. Sandridge, U.Va. executive vice president and chief financial officer. "We look forward to expanding our existing academic alliances and to working with AIMR in its new home at Fontaine." The AIMR building will be the fifth structure in the Fontaine Research Park. The U.Va. Health Services Foundation opened its doors in 1994. A second building, now home to the U.Va. Development Office, the Virginia Neurological Institute, Multimedia Medical Systems, and the MORE 2 Neuroclinical Trials Center, opened two years later. In July, U.Va.-HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital began operations, and in September the Musculoskeletal Medical Office Building will be completed and open for business. "We welcome our association with AIMR, which we hope will extend well beyond the signing of a lease," said Tim Rose, chief executive officer of the University of Virginia Foundation, which owns and manages University-affiliated real estate projects. "Partnerships such as this continue to demonstrate how important the University and higher education can be to the health and continued growth of the Charlottesville/Albemarle area." AIMR was formed in 1990 through the merger of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts and the Financial Analysts Federation. It has 125 employees and has outgrown its current facilities at the Boar's Head Business Park. AIMR is a global, nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to more than 33,000 investment professionals from 70 countries. Through its headquarters in Charlottesville, and more than 80 affiliated societies and chapters worldwide, AIMR provides global leadership in investment education, professional standards, and advocacy programs In addition to rapid growth among its membership, AIMR has seen enrollment in its Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program grow by nearly 300 percent over the past five years, reaching more than 50,000 candidates this year. Fontaine Research Park, a master-planned 54-acre park, zoned for approximately 400,000 square feet of development and located near the University's main Grounds, is one of two research parks owned by the U.Va. Foundation. It also operates the University of Virginia Research Park at North Fork, a master-planned 532-acre park that could eventually be home to three million square feet of development. North Fork is located eight miles north of the University and is directly adjacent to the Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport and U.S. Route 29. ### For more information about AIMR's move, call Moira Bourgeois at (804) 980-3611.
