CRAIG LITTLEPAGE NAMED INTERIM ATHLETICS DIRECTOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Dec. 16 -- Craig K. Littlepage, associate athletics director at the University of Virginia, will serve as interim director while a search is conducted for Jim Copeland's successor, U.Va. President John T. Casteen III said today. Copeland announced his resignation last week to become athletics director at Southern Methodist University. "Craig's experience as a coach and administrator have prepared him to lead the program during this transition," Casteen said. "He will work to protect the excellence of the program and the individuals in it, coming as close as possible to conducting business as usual." Casteen said the search for a new director will take several months. He plans to name a search committee shortly. A 1973 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in economics, Littlepage has been an assistant basketball coach at Villanova, Yale and the University of Virginia and head coach at Penn and Rutgers. He became assistant director of U.Va. athletics in 1990 and associate director for programs in 1992. ### December 16, 1994
