DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR SATURDAY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Dec. 17 -- Registration for the Saturday Enrichment Program at the University of Virginia continues through Wednesday, Dec. 21. The Saturday morning program for gifted and high-ability children in kindergarten through fifth grade starts a six-week session of courses on Feb. 11. To be eligible students must currently be in a gifted program or demonstrate above-average abilities in one or more areas. Among the offerings for students in kindergarten and first grade are investigations in science, architectural design and acting. Courses for students in second and third grades range from computer programming to exploring life in the Middle Ages, and courses for fourth- and fifth-graders range from studying items from a local excavation to learning printmaking.
