RELEASE ON RECEIPT






     CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., Dec. 19 --  Dr. Robert W. Cantrell, "acting vice 
president and provost for health sciences at the University of Virginia, has 
been elected as an Honorary Member of the Australian Society of 
Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.  According to the Society, this honor 
is offered only to world leaders in otolaryngology for the contributions 
they have made to the advancement of the discipline.

     *As of January 1, 1996, Dr. Cantrell will be vice president and provost 
for health sciences at U.Va.
