DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR GIFTED CHILDREN'S PROGRAM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Dec. 10 -- Parents of gifted children in kindergarten through fifth grade have until Dec. 15 to enroll in University of Virginia classes designed to stimulate young minds. The Saturday Enrichment Program, sponsored by U.Va.'s Curry School of Education, is designed for young students currently participating in gifted student programs or those demonstrating a desire to learn and work independently. The enrichment program provides a range of courses intended to stimulate the minds of curious students, according to director Darci Lieb. "Drama Rama," for example, lets youth explore freedom of self-expression and "Robots, Inside Out" allows students to investigate current and prospective inventions. The enrichment program is held at two locations: at U.Va. and Orange County Elementary School. It will run from Feb. 1 through March 8 at U.Va. and Jan. 25 through March 1 in Orange County. Charlottesville classes are offered twice: 9-10:30 a.m. and 11-12:30 p.m. Orange classes meet 9-11 a.m. The cost of the program is $85 for one course, with a $10 reduction for additional children from the same family. Scholarships are available for students who are eligible for the school free lunch program. For additional information, call (804) 924-3182. ### December 9, 1996
