DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR GIFTED CHILDREN'S PROGRAM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Dec. 10 -- The University of Virginia's Curry School of Education expects to challenge gifted grade-school students through its 1998 Saturday Enrichment Program. Offered on Saturday mornings in February and March, the program is targeted toward area students in kindergarten through grade five who are gifted or demonstrate a desire to learn and work independently. The program's courses expose children to new areas of interest while providing an opportunity to interact with similar students. Among the courses offered are "Surfing and Creating," in which children can learn to make their own World Wide Web home page, and "Scientific Wizardry," in which students explore chemical reactions. Classes will be held at U.Va. and at Orange County Elementary School. The deadline for applying is Dec. 15. The cost of the program is $85 for one course, with a $10 reduction for additional children from the same family. Scholarships are available for students who are eligible for the school free-lunch program. ### Dec. 9, 1997 For additional information, call the Curry School at (804) 924-3182.
