94-02-07 UVa nursing school expands clinic Contact: Katherine Jackson MEDIA ADVISORY U.VA. NURSING SCHOOL EXPANDS CLINIC You are invited to the grand opening of the new Crescent Halls clinic, Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. Crescent Halls, a public housing facility located at 500 S. 1st Street, houses about 115 elderly and disabled residents. Assisted by a five year $1.2 million grant and local funding, an existing clinic has been expanded and will be maintained full-time by faculty and students from the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Previously health care was provided to the residents on a part-time basis from the janitor's closet. The clinic bridges a large health care gap for residents, who aren't eligible for care at the Charlottesville Free Clinic, says Doris Glick, project director and assistant professor of nursing at U.Va. ### Charlotte A.
