94-02-15 President and CEO of Time Warner Cable to Deliver Batten Media Lecture on Information Super Highway PRESIDENT AND CEO OF TIME WARNER CABLE TO DELIVER BATTEN MEDIA LECTURE ON INFORMATION SUPER HIGHWAY CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Feb. 15 -- E. Thayer Bigelow Jr., president and chief executive officer of Time Warner Cable Programming Inc., will describe "Adventures on the Information Super Highway" during the Batten Media Lecture on Monday, Feb. 21, at 1:10 p.m. in room 210 at the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. Bigelow's communications career has included serving as president and chief operating officer of both Home Box Office Inc. and American Television and Communications Corp. Since joining Time in 1973, he has been president of Manhattan Cable Television Inc., senior vice president for finance and corporate development of Time-life Films Inc., president of Time-Life Video, and treasurer, vice president and chief financial officer of Time, Inc. A 1967 Darden graduate and a former president of the school's alumni association, Bigelow currently serves as a Darden Foundation trustee. The lecture series honors Frank Batten, board chairman of Landmark Communications Inc. in Norfolk. In 1988, Batten established the fellowships that assist selected journalists in earning an MBA at the Darden school.
