RELEASE ON RECEIPT Contact: Katherine Jackson CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., Feb. 10--Three University of Virginia post-doctoral fellows received grants from the Wyeth Pediatrics Neonatology Research Program to help support their scientific research. Fellowships were presented to Drs. Donna Cothran, Patricia Hagan and Felice Heller at pediatric ground rounds Jan. 26. A national steering committee selected by the American Academy of Pediatrics independently reviewed the grant applications and determined which projects would be funded. Hospital-based research is a key element of the Academy of Pediatrics' focus. U.Va. received three of the 88 awards presented for the 1994- 95 academic year. The awarding of three such grants at one institution is highly unusual but a testimony to the abilities of the skilled preparation by the department and its director, Dr. John Kattwinkel, says Wyeth officials. Wyeth Pediatrics Neonatology Research Grants Program was created two years ago to help support research carried out by post- doctoral fellows in neonatology. Wyeth Pediatrics is based in Midlothian. ### February 9, 1995
