PHOTO OPPORTUNITY for Heart Month Ever want to explore a nuclear cardiology lab? Or wonder how an electrocardiogram works? Find out by attending the University of Virginia Heart Center open house on Sunday, February 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Tours of the Heart Center's labs will be given by doctors and lab technicians who will explain how heart disease is diagnosed. The labs include: Exercise Stress Test Laboratory: Uses bicycle and treadmill exercise to find heart disease and test the heart and lung system. Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory: Uses special computers to produce 3-D images of the heart to locate damaged areas of muscle. Echocardiography Laboratory: Uses ultrasound and sonograms to produce images of blood flow and muscle contraction in the heart. Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory: A small tube passed through blood vessels to the heart helps produce images of valves and arteries in the heart. Electrocardiography Laboratory: Special tape recorders are used to analyze the rhythms of heartbeats to find abnormalities. If you are interested in covering any portion of the open house, please contact Marguerite Beck at 924-5679. ### February 1, 1995
