TECHNOLOGY MEETS VALENTINEÕS DAY University of Virginia students may find the inspiration to make this ValentineÕs Day memorable during a Creative Dating Workshop Friday, Feb. 10. The interactive, multi-media presentation--with romantic music--will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the chemistry auditorium. Led by David Coleman, director of student activities at Xavier University, the workshop will encourage students to create innovative, low-cost dates that are fun, safe and do not focus on alcohol. Coleman says that students, who are busy with classes, study demands, part-time jobs and family commitments, often donÕt feel they have the time or money to devote to building successful relationships. He promises that participants will leave the workshop with a list of 250 new and different dating ideas for couples to enjoy together, including jumping in mud puddles on a rainy day, visiting a nursing home, test-driving cars or taking photographs of the season. HeÕll also offer ÒTen Commandments of DatingÓ and his ÒDaterÕs Bill of Rights.Ó The event is the latest in the ÒFriday Night Series,Ó started about three years ago to offer students fun, unusual social events that do not include alcohol. A March 3 event will be ÒJammie-JamÓ in which students will wear pajamas, bring stuffed animals and enjoy milk and cookies while participating in a human Candyland game. Sponsored by the College Bowl, the pajama party will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight in the Newcomb Hall Cavalier Room.
