FILMMAKER KEN BURNS TO SPEAK AT U.VA. AND PREVIEW HIS NEW FILM, "THOMAS JEFFERSON" CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Feb. 5 -- Ken Burns, the well-known filmmaker and creator of "The Civil War," "Baseball," and "The West," will appear at Newcomb Hall Theater at the University of Virginia on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. Burns will present a preview of his latest film, "Thomas Jefferson," and answer questions from the audience. Newcomb Hall Theater is located on the ground floor of Newcomb Hall next to the U.Va. Bookstore. Parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage on Emmet Street. There is no charge for attendance. Seating is limited to the first 500; doors open at 6 p.m. Burns's appearance is made possible by Central Virginia's Public TV, WHTJ-Charlottesville, and is co-sponsored by the U.Va. Bookstore and the Miller Center of Public Affairs. "Thomas Jefferson" will premiere over two nights on Central Virginia's Public TV-WHTJ Charlottesville and WCVE-Richmond on Feb. 18 and 19, 9-10:30 p.m. each night. An intriguing portrait of our third President, Thomas Jefferson was four years in the making. The documentary delves into Jefferson's enigmatic character, exploring his ideas and his passions.
