                   THE DOCTOR'S AT THE STORE 

     NORTH GARDEN, Va., Jan. 13--A family medicine clinic opened
recently at the Crossroad Corner Shops serving residents in the
North Garden and surrounding areas, including Nelson County.
     The facility, operated by the University of Virginia School of
Medicine, provides medical care for patients of all ages, including
minor office surgery and obstetrics.  Radiology services are not
available, says medical director Dr. John P. Franko. 
     Clinic hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. For appointments call (804) 243-4660. 
      Following a national trend of academic doctors bringing basic
medical services to communities, U.Va. expects to open other
satellite clinics soon.
