SHAWE PLEDGES GIFT TO VIRGINIA LAW SCHOOL

	CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Jan. 11 -- Earle K. Shawe of
Baltimore, managing partner of the Shawe & Rosenthal law firm, has
pledged $250,000 to the University of Virginia School of Law.
Shawe, a national authority on labor and employment law and a 1934
graduate of the law school, will endow a research professorship.
	ÒThis chair will allow distinguished law practitioners to
pursue research in the field of labor and employment law,Ó said
Robert E. Scott, dean of the law school.  ÒWe are delighted by Earle
ShaweÕs wonderful commitment.Ó
	ShaweÕs pledge comes in response to U.Va.Õs $700 million
capital campaign effort, of which $12 million is to be earmarked for
professorships in the law school.
