PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT


	A free seminar to encourage and recognize girlsÕ and womenÕs
participation in sports will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. at
the University of VirginiaÕs Ruffner Hall Auditorium.  During the
event, part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day, four
female sports enthusiasts will describe their experiences and the
opportunities to benefit from athletic competition.  Designed
primarily for parents and female students, the seminar will
encourage girls to believe in their ability to achieve success in
sports.  There will be door prizes and refreshments during the
event, sponsored by the U.Va. athletics department, the Curry School
of Education, Downtown Athletics, the Nutrition Clinic and the
