U.VA. OFFICIAL TO CHAIR CONFERENCE 
ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

	CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Jan. 25 -- George J. Moein, director
of the Hazardous Materials Management Institute at the University of
Virginia, has been named chair of the Ecological Security
Conference, to be held in Estonia March 1-3.  He will manage an
international conference addressing a broad range of environmental
problems in northeastern Europe and Russia.
	Appointed chair by the Estonia Academy of Sciences, the
honor was bestowed on Moein in recognition of his efforts to help
the country, considered the most polluted on the European continent.
	Moein also leads federally supported workshops through the
Superfund University Training Institute, as part of his work in
U.Va.'s Division of Continuing Education.
