               TURKISH AMBASSADOR TO SPEAK ON NATO EXPANSION

	Nuzhet Kandemir will speak on "Turkey, the United States, and
NATO Expansion" at the Miller Center, Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m.
Kandemir is the ambassador to the United States for the Republic of
Turkey. 
	This forum will be the first in a 1998 series presented by the
Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia to
discuss the expansion of NATO into Eastern Europe. The Miller Center
forums are free and open to the public.  

              MILLER CENTER TO HOLD FORUM ON NATO EXPANSION

	Oliver Caron, counselor at the French Embassy in Washington,
D.C., will discuss "France and NATO Enlargement" on Friday, Jan. 30,
at 11 a.m., as part of a Miller Center forum on NATO expansion. 
	The ratification of NATO expansion into Eastern Europe is
currently being explored by a series of visiting scholars, military
figures and journalists at U.Va.'s Miller Center for Public Affairs.
	The forums, which are designed to bring national policy makers
to the University while examining urgent national issues, are free and
open to the public.
