CMC received the 1994 Hospitals week award Release on Receipt Contact: Katherine Jackson CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., June 17--The University of Virginia Children's Medical Center (CMC) received the 1994 Children and Hospitals Week Award for Excellence from the Association for the Care of Children recently in Toronto. U.Va. was chosen from the large hospital/pediatric unit category for "its exceptional and innovative programming." Three national awards are presented annually in recognition of the accomplishments of Children and Hospitals Week participants. Children and Hospitals activities are designed to increase awareness of the needs of children and families in health care settings. CMC-TV technical director Linda Drake coordinated U.Va's week-long activities. Children and Hospitals Week, now in its 15th year, is held late in March and hundreds of health care institutions across the country participate. It highlights hospital and community-based activities and educational events aimed at hospital staff, children and families and the community at large. The Award for Excellence was first presented in 1993. The recipients were Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center in Atlanta and Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. ### Charlotte A.
