RELEASE ON RECEIPT U.VA. BOARD OF VISITORS ESTABLISHES THREE PROFESSORSHIPS CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., June 9 -- Three new chaired professorships were established by the University of Virginia Board of Visitors at its meeting here today, bringing the number of endowed chairs to 369. In the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, the board established the Alumni Research Professorship in Business Administration, which will be used to attract eminent business scholars doing research in the area of leadership. The chair, which honors the distinguished teaching and research of Darden School professor John L. Colley Jr., was made possible by an anonymous gift from a graduate of the school. It will be renamed the John L. Colley Jr. Research Professorship upon Colley's retirement. In the School of Medicine, the board established the James M. Moss Professorship in Diabetes, for a faculty member who will focus on education, research and patient care in the field of diabetes. The chair was made possible by a gift from Dr. James M. Moss' widow, Rachel, his son, William, and his stepmother, Catharine. Dr. Moss graduated from the School of Medicine in 1941 and served as president of the U.Va. Medical Alumni Association, and in leading roles in Virginia and national medical and diabetes education societies. He was a member of the clinical faculties of Georgetown University Hospital and D.C. General Hospital. In the White Burket Miller Center of Public Affairs, the board established the C.K. Yen Professorship, for a scholar who will focus on the study of political leadership in Asia. Made possible by a gift from the government of the Republic of China on Taiwan, the chair is named for a former president of the republic. It will assure the continuation and expansion of a Miller Center program on Asian political leadership directed by S.C. Leng, son-in-law of C.K. Yen. ### June 9, 1995
