MEDIA ADVISORY The first Virginia Minority Health Conference will be held in Charlottesville from Sunday, June 23 through Tuesday, June 25 at the Omni Hotel. This is the first statewide conference to address the health concerns of Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans and Asian/Pacific Islanders in Virginia. The conference is sponsored by the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center and the Virginia Office of Minority Health. Featured speakers include: * Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, president of Morehouse School of Medicine and former secretary of health and human services under the Bush administration * Dr. Vivian W. Pinn, director of the Office of Research on Women's Health at the National Institutes of Health * Dr. Randolph L. Gordon, commissioner of the Virginia Department of Health * Mr. Clay Simpson Jr., Ph.D., deputy assistant secretary of minority health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Although the conference fee is $100, Sunday afternoon's keynote address from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. is free and open to the public.
