KEY PLAYERS IN SHAPING VIRGINIA'S EDUCATION FUTURE WILL CONVENE JULY 8-9 AT U.VA. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., June 20 -- Top education policymakers will consider the future of education in Virginia during a July 8-9 institute at the University of Virginia. During the two-day policy institute, participants will address the future of both K-12 education and higher education. Sponsored by the Department of Leadership, Foundations and Policy in U.Va.'s Curry School of Education, the program will be held in Ruffner Hall Auditorium. Among the expected participants are Donald S. Beyer Jr., Virginia Lt. Governor; Beverly Sgro, Virginia Secretary of Education; Arnold R. Oliver, chancellor, Virginia Community College System; and Elizabeth McClanahan, chair, State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Also expected are: Senator John H. Chichester, head, Future of Higher Education Commission; Delegate William "Ted" Bennett Jr., chair, Commission on the Future of Public Education; and Brenda Edwards, senior research associate and legislative services contact, among others.
