MEDIA ADVISORY U.VA. HOLDS FOURTH ANNUAL FORENSIC NURSING INSTITUTE "VIOLENCE: THE EPIDEMIC OF THE 90S" Dr. Marcella F. Fierro, Virginia's chief medical examiner, will discuss forensic investigations during the annual Forensic Nursing Institute at the University of Virginia School of Nursing, June 22-27. Fierro will speak on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. in McLeod Hall. The institute provides nurses and other health care professionals from across the state an opportunity to explore the latest techniques in working with victims of violent behavior in an effort to reduce deaths. Other presenters include psychologists, physicians, forensic specialists, and a judge. Participants will discuss, among other issues, shaken baby syndrome, sexual assault, rape, elder and child abuse and media violence. The Institute is sponsored by the School of Nursing and Continuing Health Care Education and supported by a Brain Injury Association, Inc. grant.
