The popular one-volume reference book, revised every two years and edited by Center for Public Service demographer Michael A. Spar, brings together statistics about Virginia from dozens of definitive sources. The information is arranged in three different levels of detail: o State data tables show how Virginia compares with the entire United States, nine surrounding states, and the District of Columbia. o Virginia tables give detailed statewide data for the Commonwealth as a whole. o County/city tables supply information on each of Virginia's 95 counties and 41 cities, as well as eight Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and 21 regional planning districts. Twenty-three separate sections offer facts on the state's economy, communications, government, natural resources, transportation and people. Introductions to each section explain the types of statistics available and suggest other sources of information. The book is aimed at being an easy-to-use and essential reference for anyone with questions about Virginia, Spar said. It may be ordered from the Center for Public Service by calling (804) 982-5704. The price is $42.50 plus shipping. ### March 14, 1994 [Submitted by: Karen A. Castle (kac@uva.pcmail.virginia.edu) Tue, 15 Mar 94 08:55:04 EST]
