HARCOURT GENERAL CEO TO LECTURE ON PUBLISHING CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 28 -- Robert J. Tarr Jr., president and chief executive officer of Harcourt General, will present the annual Batten Media Lecture on Monday, April 3, at the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. His 1:10 p.m. talk, in Room 210 of the Darden School, is free and open to the public. Tarr, whose company is a leading publisher of books and other written materials, will discuss "Content and Technology in Publishing: A Necessary Alliance." A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy who served as an officer in the Navy's nuclear submarine service, Tarr has held positions of increasing responsibility at Harcourt General since joining the company in 1976. He earned an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. The Batten Media Lecture series honors Frank Batten, chairman of the board of Norfolk-based Landmark Communications, who in 1988 established the Batten Fellowships for selected journalists to study at the Darden School. ### March 27, 1995
