CONTACT: Katherine Jackson PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT The ninth annual Kid Safe program will be held at the University of Virginia Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center, Saturday, March 16, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The safety education program employs serious fun to educate four- to 14-year old children about safety issues. Fire fighters, police officers, nurses and other community professionals will provide hands-on instruction in first aid, dialing 911, personal safety, baby-sitting skills, fire safety, CPR, and drug and alcohol abuse awareness. Participants can also visit exhibits and have their photographs and fingerprints made. The safety program kicks off National Children and Healthcare Week, March 16-22. Other events include a WINA radio broadcast, "Charlottesville Live" from the Madge M. Jones Activity Terrace, on the hospital's seventh floor and an art exhibit at the Barnes and Noble Booksellers, Barracks Road Shopping Center. All events are sponsored by the Children's Medical Center Hospital Education Department. ### March 14, 1996
