STATE SENATOR EMILY COURIC TO ADDRESS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 8 -- About 150 students from 12 Central Virginia high schools will explore how they can gain the most benefit from their education during the sixth annual Student Leadership Conference Thursday, March 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the University of Virginia. State Senator Emily Couric will deliver the keynote address at 10:30 a.m. in Ruffner Hall Auditorium at U.Va.'s Curry School of Education. Couric will discuss current education issues with the students. Sponsored by the Virginia School-University Partnership, a coalition of Central Virginia school districts and U.Va.'s Curry School of Education, the conference will address ways in which students can influence their own education. They will explore a variety of topics including citizenship, effective instructional styles and methods of measuring student achievement.
