U.VA. TO HOST WAR OF THE MINDS CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 23 -- The 1996 Wahoo War, a competition among College Bowl teams, will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22, in Room 118 of Cabell Hall at the University of Virginia. Teams representing approximately 20 colleges and universities will square off in an academic competition requiring vast knowledge and quick responses. The top three teams in the country, representing Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Maryland, will compete against teams from such schools as Duke, Harvard and Pennsylvania. Play will continue until approximately 10 p.m. Friday and resume at approximately 8:45 a.m. Saturday. The competition, in which the top eight teams in each bracket will advance to a single-elimination playoff, is expected to last until 7 p.m. Saturday. The U.Va. team which has been so successful in regional and national competitions in recent years, is not playing, according to student member Chris Sloan.
