OFFICE OF MINORITY PROCUREMENT PROGRAMS HOLDS
FOURTH ANNUAL MINORITY VENDOR SEMINAR

        CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., May 4 -- The Office of Minority
Procurement Programs (OMPP) at the University of Virginia will hold
its fourth annual seminar for minority businesses on Monday, May
23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
        The goal of the "Forming Partnerships:  U.Va. and Minority
Business Enterprises" seminar is to enhance economic parity for
minority firms in the marketplace, according to Donald Jones, OMPP
director.
        Topics will include how to start new business ventures and
overcome obstacles, solve problems common to small businesses,
develop joint ventures or subcontracting business relationships,
create marketing strategies and begin a business relationship with
U.Va.
        Speakers will include Adele Johnson-Crawley, executive
director of the Virginia Regional Supplier Development Council,
successful minority entrepreneurs and members of U.Va.'s purchasing
department.  Bonnie Guiton Hill, dean of U.Va.'s McIntire School of
Commerce, will be moderator.

        Preregistration is required for the seminar, which is open to
all minority business enterprises.  For information on the seminar,
