RELEASE ON RECEIPT CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., May 26--The University of Virginia School of Nursing honored four students Saturday at its annual professional pinning ceremony. The traditional candlelight ceremony recognized graduating nurses by the presentation of pins, indicating completion of the bachelor's degree program. They wear the pins on their uniforms. Remarks by President John T. Casteen III and former school dean Rose Marie Chioni followed the Lawn procession. Terri Creech of MIDLOTHIAN received the Student Contributing Most to the School of Nursing award. Creech, who was nominated by students and faculty of the school, was class president. Miev Heak of RICHMOND, nominated by students and faculty, received the Student Contributing the Most to the University of Virginia award. Porsha Ingles of SWANSEA, MA received the Air Force Nursing Leadership Award. It recognizes academic, clinical and leadership excellence contributed to the profession of nursing. Amy Elizabeth Chenoweth of CHARLOTTESVILLE, received the Clinical Excellence Award. Susan Alther of CULPEPER received the "Z" Society's Shannon Scholar Award for Outstanding Academic Performance. The awards, honoring former U.Va. president Edgar F. Shannon Jr., are presented annually to graduates who have the highest grade point averages in their schools. ### May 25, 1995
