U.VA. CENTER'S VIRGINIA STATISTICS WEB SITE CITED FOR EXCELLENCE CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., May 7 -- The University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service has received the Association for University Business and Economic Research's 1996-97 "Best of the Web" Award for offering easy electronic access to a wide range of key information about Virginia and the nation. The U.Va. research and training center provides through its Word Wide Web site regularly updated statistical information and analyses on numerous economic, demographic and other topics about Virginia, its localities, neighboring states and the nation. The award was presented to John L. Knapp, the center's director of business and economic research, at the spring meeting of the national association of university economic research centers this month in Washington, D.C.
