MAY 7 MEETING ADDRESSING REVERSION'S POSSIBLE IMPACT ON PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO BE POSTPONED CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., May 6 -- The last session in a series of public discussions examining how reversion could affect area public schools that was scheduled for May 7 has been postponed until the fall. Organized by educators in the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education and the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, the "Community Conversations on K-12 Public Education" have been designed to give area residents opportunities for voicing their opinions about schooling options. The first session was held March 5; a second one was April 23, and the final meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. in the Albemarle County Office Building. Because attendance at the last session was significantly smaller than at the first session, organizers want to reconsider the format of the public meetings, according to Harold Burbach, chair of the leadership, foundations and policy department in U.Va.'s Curry School of Education. "The end of the school year is such a busy time for area teachers and parents, as well as U.Va. faculty, that we thought we should reconsider how to stimulate conversations on educational goals," Burbach said. ### May 6, 1997
