11-17-93 Mental Health Research Center Update Contact: Katherine Jackson MEDIA ADVISORY MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCH CENTER UPDATE The Charlottesville-based Rural Mental Health Research Center's first year report will be given by director Jeanne Fox, Ph.D., R.N. Established by a $1.25 million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health, the center focuses on three rural high- risk populations: the elderly, mentally ill persons and women and children. Fox, who is professor of behavioral medicine and psychiatry and professor of nursing, will be assisted by Michael Blank Ph.D., director of clinical and community research. Blank will discuss the racial matching of health care providers in rural areas. The talk, sponsored by the Virginia Health Policy Research Center at the University of Virginia, will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 3001 McKim Hall.
