RELEASE ON RECEIPT CONTACT: Katherine Jackson CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., Nov. 23--The chairman of psychiatric medicine at the University of Virginia was elected president of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry at a recent meeting in California. Dr. Randolph J. Canterbury, professor and chairman of psychiatric medicine and director of U.Va.'s Institute for Substance Abuse Studies (ISAS), will serve a one year appointment. The Association of Medicine and Psychiatry consists of board certified physicians in psychiatry and another medical specialty. It supports clinical service, education and research in all areas of psychiatry and medicine. Canterbury is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Society of Addiction Medicine. ### November 22, 1995
