PROGRAM TO HELP WOMEN ASSUME SEATS OF POWER CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Nov. 4 -- Tips on how women can gain top leadership positions will be the focus of a nationally broadcast seminar Nov. 14 at the University of Virginia. To be held from noon to 3:45 p.m. at Zehmer Hall, "A Seat at the Table: An Insider's Guide for America's New Women Leaders" workshop will be led by Patricia Harrison, author of a book by the same title and president of the National Women's Economic Alliance Foundation. A visiting fellow of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Harrison served on the U.S. Trade Representative's service policy advisory committee. Other panelists will include Bonnie Guiton-Hill, dean of U.Va.'s McIntire School of Commerce; Lynn Martin, a former U.S. Secretary of Labor; William Morin, chair, Drake Beam Morin; Michael Morley, senior vice president, Eastman Kodak; and Patrick Walsh, senior vice president, Merrill Lynch. Participants will be able to ask questions of the panelists during the live seminar broadcast by satellite. As a part of the seminar, local financial consultants will discuss the financial responsibility that accompanies professional success. Presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the program is co-sponsored by U.Va.'s Division of Continuing Education and Merrill Lynch.
