RESEARCHER ON HUMAN SEXUALITY WILL DESCRIBE SEX IN AMERICA CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Nov. 7 -- Noted sociologist Edward O. Laumann will speak on "Sex in America: A Comprehensive Introduction to the National Sex Survey" Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. at the University of Virginia. The talk will be held in Room 125 of Minor Hall. Known for his research in the sociology of human sexuality, Laumann is author of two 1994 books, "The Social Organization of Sexuality" and "Sex in America." Also among his 11 books is "The Form and Substance of Urban Social Networks." The George Herbert Mead Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago and director of the Ogburn Stouffer Center for Population and Social Organization, Laumann is also editor of the American Journal of Sociology. Among his other research interests are social stratification and the sociology of professions, occupations and formal organizations. Laumann is vice president of the board of trustees of the National Opinion Research Corporation and an associate director of the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the Pritzker School of Medicine.
