MAMMOGRAPHY RESEARCHER FAJARDO TO ADDRESS NEW TECHNOLOGIES CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Nov. 5 -- Nationally renowned breast cancer expert Laurie Fajardo, M.D., will provide current information on preventing and curing breast cancer during a talk Thursday, Nov. 13, at the University of Virginia. The talk will begin at noon in Newcomb Hall's Cavalier Room. The "Breast Cancer: Risk Factors, Prevention, and the Latest Therapies" talk is sponsored by U.Va.'s Women Faculty and Professional Association (WFPA), which honored Fajardo last year with its Woman of Achievement Award. Fajardo, who studies mammography technology and other detection devices, is vice chair and head of research in U.Va.'s radiology department. Her work has been published in numerous medical journals.
