93-10-27 Institute of Political Leadership Selects Chairman INSTITUTE OF POLITICAL LEADERSHIP SELECTS CHAIRMAN CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Oct. 27 -- John D. Munford of Virginia Beach, a former executive with the Union Camp Corp., has been named chairman of the board of the Virginia Institute of Political Leadership, a non-partisan educational program for prospective political candidates. Munford retired earlier this year as the vice chairman of Union Camp. The privately funded institute is based at the University of Virginia's Center for Public Service. Its statewide advisory board is made up of leaders from business, labor, education and civic organizations, as well as state legislators from both major parties. The institute's inaugural session begins in January. Each spring and fall, 20 institute fellows will be chosen to participate in the program, which consists of nine sessions on alternate weekends at university sites throughout the state. The program is open to anyone eligible to seek public office in Virginia.
