MEDIA ADVISORY ALONE TOGETHER: THE SOMETIMES LETHAL VAGARIES OF COMMUNITY AND DIVERSITY In connection with the visit of noted French intellectual Tzvetan Todorov at the University of Virginia, U.Va.'s division of continuing education is holding an Oct. 13-14 seminar exploring the dynamics of humans living together. Faculty from numerous disciplines will describe human interactions within the contexts of intellectual history, individual and group psychology, cultural traditions and the law during a series of lectures at sites in Newcomb and Peabody Halls. The faculty conversations, titled "Alone Together: the Sometimes Lethal Vagaries of Community and Diversity," are part of a series begun three years ago by the continuing education division. "The series attempts to broaden understanding of the social, legal, religious and political threads of the cultural fabric in which humans live," said Joyce Feucht-Haviar, associate dean for academic affairs. Because the event is designed for faculty, the talks are not open to the public. However, reporters are welcome to attend. A schedule is attached. For more information, contact Feucht-Haviar at (804) 982-5208. ### October 6, 1994
