                           FERRON TO PERFORM AT U.VA.

            CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., Oct. 17--Canadian singer and songwriter 
Ferron will perform at the University of Virginia's Culbreth Theater, Sunday, 
October 22, at 7:30 p.m. 
	Prior to the concert, the U.Va.'s Women's Center will host a 
reception at 6 p.m. in the Culbreth Theater lobby. The event is cosponsored 
by WTJU (91.1 FM). 
	Ferron's songs are often called acoustic literature.  Her recent 
album "Phantom Center" deviates from her usual lyrics about love and family.  
	 Concert tickets are $15, and the pre-concert reception is $10. 
	Tickets are available at U.Va.'s Women's Center, Spencer's, Plan 9 
Records, Newcomb Hall Main Desk, Williams Corner Bookstore and the Purple
